Record company people are shaaaaadyyyyyy.
My weekly ritual of checking out http://postsecret.blogspot.com in sociology, i came across this one:
I have the same fear. People become educators because although their bank accounts may not be rich, their hearts are. But to what degree can we really hope to inspire people? Dedicating my life to inspiring others, only to end in thanklessness? I wonder sometimes.

I understand your point, friend. But if you seek to inspire and serve others, you shouldn't expect any thanks, and for two reasons:
1. People can be ignorant, or just plain unappreciative... it's a sad fact that more people notice when someone harms them than when someone helps them.
2. It's great when you're noticed for making a difference in someone's life, especially when you don't expect it. And you will savor that reward whenever it happens. But if you're so willing to help and inspire others, why are you so focused on getting thanks for it? It sounds pretty selfish, doesn't it?
You're waisting your time worrying about something that isn't going to happen.
You'll get your thanks in the satisfaction of knowing that you did inspire someone. Don't seek that satisfaction by expecting others to reciprocate, or even say thanks.
You're gonna have to find a way to be satisfied in just knowing that you've had an impact. And when someone does notice, it'll be a great surprise.
Good luck buddy.
